Sweet Treats

We have had lots of fun the past couple of weeks preparing for Valentines Day, and we were beyond thrilled to receive so many valentine treats!!

We had a Secret Chef come in and help us make ice cream sandwiches rolled in chocolate chips. Yum!!

 As always, we have been spending our days using fun materials and learning lots!

Snowy Days

I recently had the opportunity to rearrange the classroom to accommodate some new materials. 

In our math area, we now have a small bead frame, fraction puzzles, and an EXTREMELY long rug to accommodate our thousand chain.

Last week, two of our five-year-olds decided to try out the new rug. They counted and labeled beads to 1,000 and then wrote out numbers to 1,000, counting by 10s.

Our Practical Life area was updated as well. 

We switched out pouring dry goods (rice, pasta, beans, etc.) to pouring water.

We brought up some of the furniture from our playroom to accommodate some activities that were apparently too well hidden and not getting used.

top: hand washing; side shelves: apple slicing and orange juicing

We added lots of new language and reading activities. 

We also replaced our reading nooks with coat rods -- the past few weeks have allowed us ample practice hanging, putting on, taking off, buttoning, unbuttoning, and zipping our coats.

We have been busy since we have returned from winter break. 

We have been learning about the Arctic and Antarctic and making all kinds of crafts. 

We have enjoyed working with our new fraction puzzles.

And, we have had the first lesson on the farm this year (learning adjectives). So fun!!

Daddies, Dollies, and Iron Man

Our last week before Winter Break was extremely eventful.

We started the week with a visit from our Daddies (and other special guests)! They joined our class for some poems and songs, and we showed them all the smart things we know how to do. 

Our Secret Chef showed us how to make snowmen out of cookies, pretzels, chocolate chips, and icing.

We finished up the last of the holiday crafts. 

 We ended the week with Pajama Day!! 

We all loved an excuse to bring our dollies and come to class in PJs. 

 And, our super hero fascination has not gone away.

December at a Glance

We've had a wonderfully eventful December so far!

Our little elves have been busy making fun crafts. 

 Earlier this week, we had a Mystery Reader share both a story and a song!

The super-hero fascination is still going strong.

We can't wait for Dads and Donuts on Monday!!
