Back To School

School is off to a great start!
We have enjoyed making crafts, singing, dancing, and spending time with friends.
The children have always loved story time, but it seems more popular than usual this year.
The titles below have been particular favorites.
Along with all the special back-to-school activities, we have been having fun learning!

Summer at Marlowe - Part 2

It wouldn't be summer without a campout.
Every year, I put the older children in charge of setting up our tent.
They do a fantastic job and are so fast!
Along with learning how to set up a tent, during camping camp, the children made some fun crafts, studied the stars, learned about cooking over a camp stove, and they even made an emergency compass with a cork, needle, and magnet!
Once the children became expert domestic campers, they were ready to go on safari.
After a week of learning about exotic animals from around the world, the children set off to see if they could locate any.
After observing them from a distance and checking them off their list, the children gathered the animals and placed them in a nature reserve.
Next, the children studied paleontology. They searched the playground for prehistoric eggs, uncovered fossils, and learned all about dinosaurs.
We finished the summer with spy camp.
The children underwent extensive CIA training which included learning super-secret hand signals (ASL) and participating in tactical fitness training.
By the end of the week, the children had decoded multiple messages and were awarded a secret mission of their own.
The last few weeks of summer were so much fun, but we learned a lot as well!
We look forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks!
