Daddies, Dollies, and Iron Man

Our last week before Winter Break was extremely eventful.
We started the week with a visit from our Daddies (and other special guests)! They joined our class for some poems and songs, and we showed them all the smart things we know how to do.
Our Secret Chef showed us how to make snowmen out of cookies, pretzels, chocolate chips, and icing.
We finished up the last of the holiday crafts.
We ended the week with Pajama Day!!
We all loved an excuse to bring our dollies and come to class in PJs.
And, our super hero fascination has not gone away.
The stories below contain the original spelling and punctuation of one of our five-year-olds -- unedited and taken straight from his story journal.
Have a wonderful Winter Break, and I look forward to seeing you all in January!!!

December at a Glance

We've had a wonderfully eventful December so far!
Our little elves have been busy making fun crafts.
Earlier this week, we had a Mystery Reader share both a story and a song!

The super-hero fascination is still going strong.
We can't wait for Dads and Donuts on Monday!!

Holy Coincidence, Batman!!

So, I've been noticing a recurring theme amongst my older boys:
This has been going on all week -- these snapshots are just from today.

I think we have some fans. :)

Pilgrim Fun

Our last few days before Thanksgiving were filled with excitement! We hosted our very first student teacher, and we had something special at school nearly every day!

We made a delicious batch of Stone Soup.
We crafted the Mayflower out of both donuts and handprints.
And of course, no Thanksgiving is complete without a turkey.
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and I look forward to seeing you all on Monday!

The Battle of Atlanta Comes to Marlowe

It's not unusual for us to take story time outside in the afternoons. One day last week was just so pretty, we decided to take our materials outside too!
One of our five-year-olds went to a Civil War Reenactment this past weekend and brought in a poster to share.
His presentation was full of amazing details, and we were all quite fascinated by his rendition of the experience.
Also, I don't think it is ever too late to share the last of our Halloween fun!
We'll be making Stone Soup this Friday! Don't forget to bring in a can of vegetables.

Barnyard Babies

We sure had a blast this past Friday! We spent the morning loving on all sorts of baby barnyard animals -- not a single animal was fully grown, so they were all just the right size for our little ones. We have been so lucky to have such a great local family farm share their animals with us four years in a row!

Spooky Times

We have been having some super spooky times at Marlowe lately. Several black cats have crossed our paths, and ghosts, spiders, and other creepy crawlers have found their way into our classroom.

We can't wait for our favorite petting zoo to visit us on Friday!
